Stazi's Lemon Lips

So chances are that if you're a teen in Los Angeles then you know Stazi Kamikaze; whether it's noticing her at the Promenade or running into her at a party, I guarantee that she has played at least .001% of a role in your life thus far. At The Morning Benders concert the other night, bassist Timothy Rabbit mentioned to me that Stazi dabbled* in music under a Lemon Lips moniker. Well, I looked up Lemon Lips on MySpace and "dabble" is certainly a poor word choice. With six songs and 38,000 plays under her belt Stazi has the potential to become L.A.'s 'next hot thing,' and it doesn't hurt that her music is nice to listen to either. Someone give this girl some shows!

*Tim did not say dabbled.

Nephews on Little Radio

Nephews played a live set on FMLY Radio (Little Radio) this morning, if you missed the show you can catch the mp3z when we post them. My memory is a bit shot, but the post-rock outfit played about a four or five song set that I more than enjoyed. From the song that started it all, "Chess Teacher," to the newest of new, "Sorefinger Road," Nephews played a powerhouse set of cutting edge music. If you did tune in and heard Luke's proposal of "Drug Lips," let the band know what you think through a MySpace message.

Moby @ Fox Studios

Fuck Daft Punk. Fuck The Rolling Stones. Fuck Radiohead. Fuck Roger Waters. Fuck Iron Maiden. There is one man in this galaxy that rings true to human nature, one man who speaks the absolute world. That man is Moby. Backed by a live band and switching between bass, guitar, and vocal duties Moby puts on one of the greatest live performances that you could ever imagine. Hearing "Natural Blues," "Porcelain," and "We Are All Made Of Stars" live with two female singers, a guitar, bass, keyboard and drummer reflects all beauty in life. If you're not a recreational drug user I would not advise seeing Moby, because his performance alone will get you fucked up. If you're attending the Electric Daisy Carnival on June 28th, do NOT miss Moby.

Indie Matrimony

Rolling Stone posted an interview with Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers) yesterday and it has had the internet wondering up a storm. Your two cents?

Rolling Stone: Did you run into any other major problems during the booking?

Anthony Kiedis: For some reason, this is the summer of bands getting married. I ran into that twice. I'm very keen on M.I.A., I think she's a rocking live performer. She wanted to play, she was very into it and it seemed like a great deal and suddenly she's getting married. Same with Hot Chip. They have a real groove; they write good songs and have an interesting personality. Except for the fact that they're getting married. Undone by matrimony, but not really undone.

If you're curious about Kiedis' festival and don't really give a shit about Hot Chip/M.I.A. weddings, then check out this line-up.

Pocahaunted Tomorrow Night

Are you digging Pocahaunted?! Well it turns out you found out about them right on time. We have two pairs of tickets to give you for their show tomorrow night at the Echo. If you want a chance to win tickets to see Pocahaunted email me at cameronrath@gmail.com.

Pocahaunted

If you're from L.A., then hopefully you've heard of the lovely Pocahaunted. "The Olsen twins of blissed out drone" is what Bethany and Amanda call themselves, but I'd just like to spread the word of the very vocal, very loud and very chillin'&soothin' iPod playlist worthy kind of music that they have. Words really don't describe the talent or drugs in these girls, here's a video.

If you want to download Pocahaunted music, click here.

New Jesse McCartney...yeah

Alright, so shoot me now. It's not that I like Usher, I just love making it in that club. Well...it's not that I like Jesse McCartney one bit, but his new song has got me erect. I just watched him live on Good Morning America and he played this song "Leavin'" that drove me right out of bed and onto my dancefloor aka bathroom. Am I gay? Is liking old pop stars hip? Do you like this new jock bro jam. Let me know, please, I'm scared.
