Will the Kinks be "Top of the Pops"?

According to the BBC, The Kinks are three quarters of the way to reuniting. Lead singer Ray Davies says that his main concern is that they don't just do their old songs. "My pitch to the other guys in the band - because I'm really for it - was what would we have written if we hadn't have had our first hit, You Really Got Me?" he said. Although in history, they aren't seen as the most groundbreaking band of the time they are certainly one of the most influential. I don't know if there is a better time for them to come back, with their songs always appearing in great soundtracks like The Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack and Juno's soundtrack and so many bands owing their sound to The Kinks. "The amazing thing is that The Kinks are the only band, of that period, where the only original members are still alive," Ray Davies added. I can't wait to see what The Kinks have to offer and you can guarantee I will be in the front row at the reunion. The Kinks last performance was in 1996.
