Merriweather Post Pavilion

[confirmed album art]
Animal Collective did not play at Harlem's River Room Tuesday, but an intimate audience of about 150 devoted fans, including myself, broken up into two sessions had the opportunity to hear Merriweather Post Pavilion in its entirety. To do away with the basic facts, this is AC's ninth album, Deakin is still on hiatus and the LP is due January 20th on CD, double LP and digital formats via Domino. Now that we have that out of the way, lets get down to business.
Merriweather Post Pavilion is not the pop-infused autumn jams of well...Strawberry Jam, nor is it a display of genuine honesty, love and friendship evident in epics such as Sung Tongs or Feels. Merriweather Post Pavilion is a swamp bubbling over into a river. The muck is rinsed clear and made safe to play in, but as you splash about there is still evidence of the swamp. Do not expect to be blown away by a first listen, MPP is an album that will forever grow on you making each play a redeeming experience. More dense and less melodic than previous albums, MPP is characterized by repetition, thick bass and a consistent pattern.
1. In The Flowers
From the first haunting pitch to come from MPP a radical change in production is obvious. Trading in their live sound for the feel of a studio produced album, Animal Collective makes an explosive first impression through trance inducing beats, high reverb on Avey's vocals and an affinity for the minor scale. The track ends with a ghostly whisper transitioning into one of my favorite tracks of the album, "My Girls."
2. My Girls
If you've caught Animal Collective live in the past year then you've most likely seen their performance of "My Girls" coming in during "Daily Routine." Filled with heavenly declarative singing from both Panda and Avey, "My Girls" may be one of AC's most complementary vocal tracks. With a booming bass drum and a strong contrast between singing and sampling I would not be too surprised if remixes begin to appear. What an epic chorus...
3. Also Frightened
I noted this down as "demented carousel music," on this album AC utilize the pure sound of a keyboard and introduce violent and more sporadic rhythms. Harmonies from both Avey and Panda go well with the heavy bass drum. At this point there is no transition and the music stops for the first time.
4. Summertime Clothes
Summertime Clothes begins as if you took "We Tigers" in your left hand, "Purple Bottle" in your right and just began to clap. This freak-pop gives many props to Geologist for a driving bass and twisting/contorting of melodies. Central lyric - "I want to walk around with you."
5. Daily Routine
I'm pumped that "Daily Routine" has been so altered from its live performances. With dense intervals and a bumpy texture it has become anthemic and universally resonant. The vocals nurture the complex sampling and instrumentation and a perfect level of decay has been applying to the vocal track.
6. Bluish
This is the closest MVP will get to sounding like the Water Curses EP. Entering in what an unfamiliar ear could become confused with dub, "Bluish" sounds like hanging out outside of a club or venue. The most stripped down song on the album.
7. Guys Eyes
Strong, intense and explosive droned out bliss. The most driven and powerful force on the album leads into one of the great transitions of Animal Collective, welcome "Taste."
from here i will refer directly to my notes
8. Taste
electronic playground. heavy on the flange. chromatic blips.
9. Lion in a Coma
One of the more pop infused tracks from the album. Very focused in terms of Avey's range and precise timing of samples.
10. No More Runnin'
Children's lullaby with a hip-hop undertone. One of the few tracks that vocals are clear and understandable - al though reverb is added there is little affectation otherwise.
11. Brothersport
Personally, my favorite song of the year. "Brother Sport," now "Brothersport" takes an unexpected turn from its live presentation. The initial sample now comes in later, every pitch is distinguishable and Panda's drums remain unchanged with the Portuguese influence which contrasts well with the electronic overdub. Avey's transitional screams have now been digitized and sound like a power drill, this is complemented by Panda's soft melodies. This leads to the album's climax with the most beautiful melody that the band has created this side of "Winter's Love." There is a final essplosion (pun intended) of Panda and Avey closing what is surely their most experimental album to date.
Is this the visual album we've heard about or will that appear next year as well? As the days count down to January 20 for a variety of reasons coughObamacough, I certainly can't wait to hear this album again (and again).
Expect another, more accurate, review at the album's release and please refer here for some tracks mentioned above.
Happy Halloween!

Pattern is Movement

One of my favorite bands I saw at CMJ was Pattern is Movement. They have festered their way into my head and have made themselves quite comfortable so I thought it was time to dedicate a full post to them. This elegant duo has the power to bring more power and creativity to the stage than an entire orchestra. Swirling mystic strings and steady yet sporadic drum parts compliment the royal harmonizing vocals and minimalist keys which tend to follow in the same path. Pattern is Movement is not afraid to show their classical roots making a clever mix of indie rock (whatever that means), math rock, and minimalism. This is a band to keep an eye on. Expect great things from Philadelphia duo Pattern is Movement.

The BPA Lost Tapes

The long lost BPA or Brighton Port Authority tapes have been found. The Brighton Port Authority were a group based on the south coast of England from the early 1970's to the mid 90's who created a heavy word-of-mouth reputation. At the core of the band lied Norman Cook and Simon Thornton who gathered various singers and session men and would occasionally throw multi-day warehouse parties from which their semi-legendary reputation stems.
Check out some of the glory that is the BPA at their myspace.

Acapella-ella-ella
I'm not letting this song slip through the cracks of 2007, the beginning is a bit shaky but man...what an epic chorus. You can stand under my umbrella-ella-ella ay ay ay under my umbrella. They've got clouds and everything.
I wasn't aware of sign language acapella groups, but now I've seen it all. Here's Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn" in song and sign - way to go Australia.

Microcastle Out Today

I'll admit that I was one of those guys who downloaded Deerhunter's Microcastle illegally when it first leaked and although I haven't yet heard the official and fully mastered version I can say confidently that Deerhunter has released one of the best albums of the year...and that's not even counting the bonus Weird Era Cont.
Today saw the release of this gem and I insist that Deerhunter friends and foes give it a chance and show some love. Microcastle is broken in four parts, you'll notice that every four songs the aesthetic changes and a new theme is developed which unifies the album at the end. The most beautiful thing about this record is not only frontman Bradford Cox's sacrifice of his craft to Deerhunter but the duality that this album plays as either ambient or focused and provoking. Like Tobacco's Fucked Up Friends I find this to be a perfectly crafted album; listen for a surprise visit from Cole Alexander of the Black Lips on "Saved By Old Times." Enjoy and come to your own opinions, lets have a conversation about the progress of the band from last year's Cryptograms.
Purchase Microcastle here.
note: my review of Merriweather Post Pavilion will be posted tomorrow.

New York on a Tuesday
Hey New Yorkers, don't miss out on today's events because of the rain - if you do you're gonna feel lame.
Toronto's Born Ruffians are playing free at Sound Fix Records in Williamsburg tonight
Chief and The Postelles are playing Santo's Party House

Where I'll be:
Tonight at nine Animal collective will unveil their new album, Merriweather Post Pavilion, at the River Room in Harlem on the Hudson River. I'll be part of the intimate audience lucky enough to catch - what I am crossing my fingers for - a live performance of the album in its entirety. Details are scarce, but expect a detailed update tonight. Also, based on the file name [merriweatherCVR.jpg], below is my best guess at the album's cover art.

New Hood Internet Mixtape

Happy Monday everyone. The magic of CMJ week has left New York and now all we are left with is the cold, some beautiful foliage and classes to attend. Whether you bike, drive or fly to school I suggest jamming out to this new Hood Internet mixtape - the Ninjasonik opening is quite a nice touch. Head over to their site right here, I would host the files but if you read their post there's a fun little surprise concerning FMLY that all should check out.

CMJ Week At A Glance

[goodbye blue monday, see you soon]
Thanks to all who came out for FMLY's Breakfast of Champions. It was a beautiful day with some beautiful people and big ups to Itaru from Rumspringa for getting out of jail on time to play the show! We opened with Savoir Adore who rocked the performance art space in the back of Goodbye Blue Monday. Up next DD/MM/YYYY got everyones blood pumping with one of the most high energy sets I have seen all week. Nick Jozwiak took that vibe and created an improvisational set of loops, distortion and some of the most beautiful vibrations that have ever penetrated my ears. After Nick I performed a new set, my 30 minute Ninjasonik "Art School Girls" remix, filled with some Super Mash Bros, DJDT and the largest joint circle on this side of the calendar. Stay tuned for the "Art School Girls" video release party that I'll be playing at. After that the night took a small break to welcome DJ Teenwolf of Ninjasonik spinning some exclusive unheard tracks that he has been working on with Blaqstarr. The Hood Internet took to the decks blasting classics for the party animals in the house. Rumspringa went on shortly after and rocked a full house of fans to their knees. I definitely learned that drinking straight Tequila on stage is badass, the fans love it and that you should ALWAYS share. The night ended with Ninjasonik who played to a crowd of first timers and in the chaos of "Tight Pants," Cameron in an Obama mask and a surprise collaboration of Ninjasonik and Rumspringa (watch out Youtube!), FMLY's B of C proved to NY that we can take on CMJ week...bring it SXSW!
We have plenty of surprises in store for the future including our just announced show at the Knitting Factory on November 29 with Subtle (anticon) and Zach Hill (of Hella). Subtle's ExitingARM is a fucking fantastic album that should be on everyones shelf alongside Zach's Astrological Straits. Both of these artists push the boundaries of their respective genres and if you haven't seen Zach Hill yet...well you're in for a surprise. If you were in NY this week then hopefully you caught Zach playing drums for Marnie Stern, and speaking of Marnie I insist on picking up her latest release, This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That (Kill Rock Stars) - album title inspired by Alan Watts.
In addition to November 29 FMLY is also working on a winter celebration at the Echoplex. Get ready for Snowdayz In LA (I prefer Snowdaze) featuring Daedelus, Busdriver, The Mae Shi, Rumspringa, Fool's Gold and more to be announced.
As T.I. says, there are "Big Things Poppin'" and we couldn't be more excited to share our favorite bands with you. We were even mentioned on the top 40 charts! If you'd like to help out and become an integral role in the FMLY we are looking for inspired writers, iMovie editors and someone who enjoys photography or videocameras to capture the live magic of these performances. If this sounds like something you would be into then please send an email to noah@thefmly.com or cameron@thefmly.com with a sample of your writing, photography or video skills. Thanks everyone, we couldn't be doing this if it weren't for your support.

Tobacco: Fucked Up Friends

On his solo debut, Tobacco has progressed farther than the threshold of audible horizons. There is no technology, moral or language that can justify the music of Fucked Up Friends (anticon). Trading in the ghosts of the Black Moth Super Rainbow closet for baskets of delicious treats Tobacco goes way of an anticon Timbaland for producing one of the most progressive albums of 2008.
Rural Pennsylvania’s Tobacco has become an underground king through his ‘witch candy’ outfit, Black Moth Super Rainbow becoming the icon of a record store clerk’s wet dream. We first heard from the mysterious man in eye hands in 2000 with the release of Flower Sides (Fuckeroo) creating music with friend and fellow BMSR member Power Pill Fist under the name satanstompingcaterpillars. Three years, three albums and welcoming the addition of three more members (Father Hummingbird, The Seven Fields of Aphelion and Iffernaut) later the band has become known as Black Moth Super Rainbow, arguably one of the most important creative forces of this generation.
After releasing their first EP Electric Avenue Chapter 8 on Duotone Records, the band created their own imprint, The 70’s Gymnastics Recording Company. BMSR stayed on their own imprint to release their first two full lengths Falling Through A Field (2003) and Start A People (2004) - if you want to get technical feel free to count Chinese Witch Guy With an Axe (2004). Upon collaboration with Austin’s The Octopus Project the band signed to Graveface to release The House of Apples and Eyeballs, Lost, Picking Flowers in the Woods and their 2007 breakthrough Dandelion Gum.
For any fans of Black Moth Super Rainbow or progressive and experimental media, Fucked Up Friends will impress the fuck out of you.

Where Will You Be Seen On Halloween

First of all FMLY favs Rumspringa are playing a Helluva show. Halloween Downtown starts at 8 and goes till I can't dance anymore. Also I get $10 off just for dressing up on Halloween and it would give me a good reason to check out BOXeight.

Little Radio is having a truly ghoulish night where Autolux among others will be playing. There is also a haunted house (?!) and a costume contest. Knowing Little Radio, there will be plenty of surprises as well.

The bands that inspired the start of FMLY will be playing as some of their favorite bands featuring Nephews as Jimmy Eats World, and members of Yes Means No, Dracula Mountain and Bro Nameth.
With such great options, I'm just not sure what to do.

"Radio Retaliation"

So what's the difference between stealing and borrowing? in borrowing you give back and Thievery Corporation, while they pillage multiple genres of music give back tons in return. That big fat dubby wall of sound that is their trademark seems to wrap itself around just about anything they chuck at it. I really like how Chuck Brown ( yes of Soul Searchers fame), Seu Jorge from Brazil, Femi Kuti , sitarist Anoushka Shankar and several shpoppy female vocalists can co-exist on one CD, especially as the songs range between political manifestos and sappy luv songs, but they do. Its all in the bass line, as usual.
They should rename themselves the League of Borrowers, especially as the jacket design will render the CD itself very insecure once the shrink wrap is off. Lovely poster though.

CMJ Update: Deerhoof

So here I am in New York far away from my usual LA turf to hang out with Noah and, of course, enjoy all that CMJ week has to offer. I started the week off to a good start with a early performance by Deerhoof at the Gibson Showroom. Although it wasn't a very long set because it was streaming on KEXP, I couldn't have cared less as a handful on audience was ushered into the private studio room by Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier where they were performing. This was my first time seeing Deerhoof live and I couldn't be more impressed. With a dreamy, disjointed intensity, Deerhoof can have you snapping your fingers at one second and have you begging for mercy the next but they will always leave you wanting more. Deerhoof is playing CMJ Music Marathon on Wednesday, Ocobet 22 at the Filmore at Irving Plaza.

Notes Before Bed

[via HRO]
I've found myself incredibly into Banjo or Freakout who have consistently provided the blogosphere with on point covers of Burial's "Archangel," Vampire Weekend's "Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa" and now Radiohead's "All I Need." Being a contender for some of my favorite tracks of the year I could imagine no better show than Banjo or Freakout and Panda Bear. Find the covers here.
The Octopus Project's "I Saw the Bright Shinies" has now made its way to video, follow this link to the band's site and check it out. It couldn't be more fitting for the track.
Goodnight FMLY.

WTF GOP?
The Chaffey Community Republican Women in the Inland Empire, a chapter of the GOP, has a cartoon in their latest newsletter depicting Barack Obama's face superimposed on a donkey's body on a mock $10 dollar food stamp. Surrounding Sen. Obama is a slice of watermelon, ribs, a bucket of fried chicken, and a pitcher of Kool-Aid.
The image was supposed to illustrate that if Obama is elected his image will appear on food stamps, rather then dollar bills like other (white) presidents.
The group's president, Diane Fedele, has since "apologized" saying she said she doesn't think in racist terms and claims she was not aware that the food depicted in the cartoon fed into racist stereotypes of black people.
"I didn't see it the way that it's being taken. I never connected," she said. "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else."
Really?!? I mean come on! Like hell she didn't realize that putting our first potential black president on a FOOD STAMP surrounded by FRIED CHICKEN, RIBS, WATERMELON, and KOOL-AID was racist. What's next, John McCain in black face? Sometimes I wonder if we are really in the 21st century.
McCain and Palin must be so proud of their supporters.

Last Night A DJ Saved My Life

Doctors have found that Bee Gees 1977 hit Staying Alive might actually keep you alive if you have a heart attack. As it turns out, The American Heart Association calls for chest compressions to be given at a rate of 100 per minute in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and Staying Alive matches almost perfectly at 103 beats per minute. So if you're friend keels over, just put on the disco anthem and dance the night away.

Sophie is a Bitch

A "Sophie" could be a friend that you hang out with just 'cause you have to. Not exactly the terminology, nor am I picking on our most lovable Miltz blogger. It just is.
Words to live by according to Tacoma's hawtest Don't Tell Sophie.
The thing about this four piecer is that they remind you of the the foundation of our music -- the base of our lake. Sometimes you get tired of all the originality, samples, and ass-thumping bass that is sprayed out onto our faces leaving us with no recollection of what had just happened to us --rape so to speak. They remind us of how easy bass, guitar and drums can simply just take us to where we want to be: with Vonnegut, drinking beers and a fair-lady clinging on tight to your arm to keep ya both warm. RiP: A Remix Manifesto
In RiP: A remix manifesto, Web activist and filmmaker Brett Gaylor explores issues of copyright in the information age, mashing up the media landscape of the 20th century and shattering the wall between users and producers.
The film’s central protagonist is Girl Talk, a mash-up musician topping the charts with his sample-based songs. But is Girl Talk a paragon of people power or the Pied Piper of piracy? Creative Commons founder, Lawrence Lessig, Brazil's Minister of Culture Gilberto Gil and pop culture critic Cory Doctorow are also along for the ride.
A participatory media experiment, from day one, Brett shares his raw footage at, for anyone to remix. This movie-as-mash-up method allows these remixes to become an integral part of the film. With RiP: A remix manifesto, Gaylor and Girl Talk sound an urgent alarm and draw the lines of battle.

Politics

In an effort to help the cause, new father Mark Ciptak, decided to name his new born baby Sarah McCain Palin Ciptak. If you think he's regretting it after the debates yesterday, he's already getting the beat down from his wife who was under the impression that the child would be named Ava Grace which is the name they agreed upon. He said that he did it in order to draw attention to the candidate. Thank god for McCain, because he has obviously been pushed aside with Nader and Ron Paul, that someone was willing to risk their marriage to make a political statement with their new born child.

Here's Tobacco that is actually good for you! Black Moth Super Rainbow's Tobacco released his debut solo album F**cked Up Friends yesterday and even Derrick Beckles from the Truth campaign ads is pro-Tobacco.

Tobacco Sounds Delicious

I speak for the entire FMLY when I say that anticon is where it's at; they know their shit, they're progressive, open to new techniques and ideas and that if anticon had a genitalia this blog would be all up on that shit. I have similiar feelings for Paw Tracks, but that comes as no surprise. If you're an avid reader of the blog then you're familiar with Tobacco, the voice and one of the several creative forces behind one of my favorite bands, Black Moth Super Rainbow. Tomorrow is finally the day that his long-awaited Fucked Up Friends (anticon) drops and in promotion for the album Tobacco has teamed up with Derrick Beckles - the crazy haired guy behind all of those TRUTH anti-smoking ads - to make some surreal spots for the internet and I'm crossing my fingers for some television. Here is...

Get Your Woodie On
The 2008 MTVu Woodie Awards are upon us and it's time to vote. This year's nominations include No Age, Simian Mobile Disco, Vampire Weekend, Santogold and more. You have until the end of the month and then some so there's no rush, voting goes down here. The video above is me, my roommate, some friends and some strangers on stage at last year's Woodie Awards with Santogold, Spank Rock, Benny Blanco and XXXChange for Spank Rock's "Rick Rubin," I later introduced The Shins and met Annie Lennox as well as Tom DeLonge...the Woodies are an interesting night.

M.I.A. IS PREGNANT

M.I.A. unveiled a larger stomach at the Diesel Anniversary party last night in NYC. This actually explains a lot such as her sudden "retirement," a cancellation of her European tour and her engagement to Benjamin Brewer. Best wishes Maya. Oh yeah, Hot Chip served as Chaka Kahn's backing band last night, that couldn't go unsaid.

No Age (sans Obama Shirt)

If anyone watches late night with Craig Ferguson - ha, yeah right - then you'll be surprised to know that a very pissed off No Age was on a recent episode playing "Eraser." Ferg explains it well for his deteriorating mind, but the boys weren't allowed to show their support for Obama on CBS without support being shown for McCain...fuck that. Check out this Youtube vid, then head over to the No Age blog (No Age LA) and read what Randy wrote.

Henry Darger

Henry Darger, an elderly recluse, spent his childhood in Illinois's asylum for feeble-minded children and his adulthood working as a janitor. He lived a quiet, nearly solitary existence, but his imaginary life was exciting, colorful and sexually provocative. When he died in Chicago in 1973, his landlady discovered in his room 300 paintings, some over 10 feet long, and a 15,000-page illustrated novel (The Realms of the Unreal), which told the epic story of the virtuous Vivian Girls leading a child slave revolt against the evil Glandelinians. Featuring Dakota Fanning (Hide and Seek) and Larry Pine (The Royal Tenenbaums) as narrators and imaginative animation of Darger's work, Oscar® winner Jessica Yu (Breathing Lessons) brings to life one of the twentieth century's greatest self-taught artists.
If you're wondering, yes, this is how the Vivian Girls obtained their name. Go Brooklyn! Purchase In The Realms of the Unreal from Amazon here.

New Animal Collective Album Revealed

[no deakin, again?]
Years ago I began counting my years in Coachellas, well now I do so in Animal Collective records. I feel that I have made the most of myself post-Strawberry Jam, but come January we will have the dawning of a new era - not 2009 - Merriweather Post Pavilion. Yes, the band has released vital information regarding this album that I will share below. I recommend checking out the AC website and find the tricks within it to discover the homemade display of album info, great stuff.
Merriweather Post Pavilion tracklisting
1. In the Flowers (live video)
2. My Girls
3. Also Frightened
4. Summertime Clothes (live video)
5. Daily Routine (live video)
6. Bluish
7. Guys Eyes
8. Taste (Blogotheque video)
9. Lion in a Coma (live video)
10. No More Runnin (live mp3)
11. Brother Sport
"Brother Sport" is in the running for my favorite song of the year -although it was created last year, the song has changed and mastered live recordings became available this year - and I have no doubt that they made the best possible choice for an album closer. Check out the live "Brother Sport" video below, it will blow your mind and very possibly your load.
Related to an earlier post on Panda Bear's Notwist reinterpretation, the full song is available online via youtube thanks to the homies at Collected Animals. Here it is!

Yarrrrr, Fool's Gold Matey!

Fool's Gold just announced their CMJ showcase on October 23. Only issue I have is that the doors open at 11? If you do the math this show won't be ending until sunrise but that's fine by me. If you're in NY hit this up Thursday, the FMLY showcase on Friday (I will announce the show officially this weekend) and then the IHEARTCOMIX birthday bash on Saturday. Nothing but good times, good vibes and good music my friends.

Three Part Duo

Three Part Duo is a series of webisodes about three socially awkward guys trying to make movies. The only thing holding them back is themselves. As they go from bad idea to bad idea, they are forced to deal with problems that everyone faces with girls, financial backing and, of course, getting beaten by security. Check out the first episode below and watch the rest right here!

McCain Fighters

Reports have confirmed that John McCain has been using yet another unauthorized song as his theme song at campaign rallies without seeking permission from the band, it's management, or record label. The Foo Fighters are the latest victim in bands that McCain has decided to bring down with him. In retaliation, The Foo Fighters released this statement:
This isn't the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It's frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. The saddest thing about this is that 'My Hero' was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song. We hope that the McCain campaign will do the right thing and stop using our song--and start asking artists' permission in general!

Well I can already tell you who is winning best album of 2009 and that is Animal Collective. Take a trip over to their webpage and come to your own conclusion. Is Merriweather Post Pavilion what we're all hoping for?

In other Animal Collective related news, Panda Bear remixed the Notwist for their Boneless 7" which was released today. By the sound of it we may as well have a new PB track on our hands - pick up the 7" on the cheap right here.

Boxing Lohan

Lindsay Lohan has been in a staple in American entertainment for a long time. She brought us Mean Girls which gave young boys gawking material for years. Lindsay has had a rough couple of years dealing with drug and alcohol abuse and recently, she came out of the closet (good for you Lindsay!). On September 14th she broke her nonpartisan stride to come out against Sarah Palin in the form of a myspace blog stating "Women have come a long way in the fight to have the choice over what we do with our bodies... And its frightening to see that a woman in 2008 would negate all of that". She went on to say "I have faith that this country will be all that it can be with the proper guidance. I really hope that all of you make your decisions based on the facts and what feels right to you in your heart-vote for Obama!"
You go Lindsay! We need more "impartial" celebrates to come out and voice their opinions.
Where can Lindsay Lohan's problems be traced back to? She had this to say about her father, who's spent time in jail and may have a secret 13 year old daughter in Montana, "It was always up and down, unpredictable. It was kind of just like whether my dad was going to be there, what he would be like. We didn't know what to expect from him, which was difficult. I knew so much at the age of 12 - I'd seen so much. So it's surprising to me that I got into certain things that I got into, because I knew not to." Michael Lohan has also called her relationship with DJ Samantha Ronson "hideous and disgusting".

Now you can help Lindsay get even with Michael by fighting him for charity which will be held on November 24,2008 at the Hilton Long Island in Melville. The highest bidder will get to go three rounds with Michael. Any one wishing to fight Michael Lohan in three rounds of boxing, can submit an offer to boxing@lifightforcharity.com. Bids to get in the ring with one of America's well known fathers are starting at $5,000. Certain rules and regulations apply based on height, age & weight and the guidelines of USA Boxing as well as the Long Island Fight for Charity. An interview process will take place after the bid is made.
I wonder if Lindsay will be bidding?

The Nightmare Before Sarah Palin

New Yorkers who want a Sarah Palin Halloween mask just may have to settle for a pig wearing lipstick.
Costume store owners, who say they're getting deluged with requests for masks of the GOP vice presidential nominee - have had to get creative since she wasn't even nominated when they put in their orders.
"The Sarah Palin is going to be huge," said James Gleason, 26, a manager at Halloween Adventures downtown. He said five to 10 customers a day ask for a Sarah costume.
He put in a rush order for rubber Palin masks from Rubie's Costume Co. in Queens, but he's still waiting for them.
So with no real Sarah mask for the Halloween display, the store decided to try to cash in on Barack Obama's "lipstick on a pig" comment on the campaign trail last month.
They took their standard pig mask, put bright lipstick on it, slapped on an $8.99 price tag and hung it next to masks of Obama and John McCain in the store's Fourth Ave. display window.
"Oh, my God, everybody's been asking for them," said clerk Jimmy James, 21.
"I think it's funny," said NYU student Mina Lee, 18, as she looked at the display. "I don't see any way people could be offended."
Rusty McMann, in town from Las Vegas, bought a pig in lipstick getup to wear during last night's debate.
"The whole point was to wear it for Halloween and then I realized, oh, there are parties tonight," said McMann, 38, an Obama supporter. "My friends will get a big kick out of it."
Buycostumes.com is offering paper Palin masks for 99 cents and Ricky's NYC in Tribeca is selling Palin-like glasses with an "Amy Winehouse" wig. Costume department manager Tiffany Poucher, 36, said she's telling people to tuck it up into a French twist to get the Palin look.

DD/MM/YYYY Surprises Me

Stranger things have happened on the FMLY blog, but just now as I was posting on DD/MM/YYYY's show at the Cake Shop they left us a nifty little blog comment. Does DD/MM/YYYY read the FMLY blog? I guess so. Anyways, if you're in NY then you can't miss DD/MM/YYYY playing with Chandeliers at the Cake Shop tomorrow, but if you do then you can always catch them at Death By Audio on Monday.

Paris Hilton Gets Repo'ed

Just when I thought we had seen the end of Paris Hilton, she returns in the new rock opera REPO! The Genetic Opera. The movie takes place in the not so distant future where there is an epidemic of organ failures and organ company GeneCo has replacement organs for all. The only problem is if you don't pay on time, they send the repo man to get their product back. The soundtrack includes 22 original songs and if they are all as ridiculous as this one, I can't wait to see it. Paris, please only ever make silly grade B slasher movies and sex tapes. AND FOR GODSAKE STOP MAKING MUSIC!

Will the Kinks be "Top of the Pops"?

According to the BBC, The Kinks are three quarters of the way to reuniting. Lead singer Ray Davies says that his main concern is that they don't just do their old songs. "My pitch to the other guys in the band - because I'm really for it - was what would we have written if we hadn't have had our first hit, You Really Got Me?" he said. Although in history, they aren't seen as the most groundbreaking band of the time they are certainly one of the most influential. I don't know if there is a better time for them to come back, with their songs always appearing in great soundtracks like The Darjeeling Limited Soundtrack and Juno's soundtrack and so many bands owing their sound to The Kinks. "The amazing thing is that The Kinks are the only band, of that period, where the only original members are still alive," Ray Davies added. I can't wait to see what The Kinks have to offer and you can guarantee I will be in the front row at the reunion. The Kinks last performance was in 1996.

Why Buy the DVD When You Get the Porn for Free?

Britney's ex Adnan Ghalib has confirmed that he has a dirty little souvenir of his relationship with Britney and claims that he will sell it for the right price. According to the trickle down theory of porn, it should be free for us to watch in a couple weeks. What really amazes me is that a tape of Britney Spears hasn't come out sooner.
Britney Is Back

"I am rehearsing for a tour around the world which will happen definitely next year. I cut 'Circus' like two weeks ago. I've been working on this album for like six months now!"
Wow, six whole months on just one album? Jeez Britney, don't stress yourself out on another masterpiece, lets not have your career peak when you're still in your 20s. You know, Animal Collective can finish an album in two weeks.
The mother-of-two also gave some insight into the meaning of her new single 'Womanizer', adding: "It's a really cool song. It's basically saying, 'We know what you're up to.' It's about guys cheating on girls. It's a girl anthem. That's why I like it."
Personally, I don't feel that the aftermath of Britney's Blackout has ended, just look below at what her last album caused (notice the absense of ears). As an outspoken independent American, are we really ready to handle Circus?
